What is a jelly crimp connector?
A jelly crimp connector is a gel-filled IDC (insulation displacement contact) splice connector. The IDC blade pierces the wire insulation to contact the conductor, and the gel fill protects the joint against moisture. Color indicates function.
- Yellow - UY / UY2: 2-wire inline splice.
- Red - UR / UR2: 2-wire or 3-wire repair and tap (dual IDC).
- Blue - UB2A: bridge tap (T-bridge; taps onto a through-wire without cutting it).
